Neuroblog 004: Accounting and some repetition of previous blather?

Who am I?  Jesse of Neuro aka Neuro NYC, Musician and … Accountant.

One does not need a PHD in mathematics to be good Accountant, but one should master the practice of “bookkeeping” for a business.   You must master Accounting Principles, such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

However, please be advised: writing in the passive voice is often required in that field (of Accounting).  To be good at math is not.

Is Neuro "math rock", like the band Rush?  Yes and no, Neuro is progressive (enter musical genre), and "Mind Altar" (the first and only album thus far) has enough electric guitar to be dubbed progressive rock.  Goth?  Yes.  This was in the previous and more interesting and lengthy Blog 003.

To repeat, is Neuro GOTH?  Not really.  Or sort of, as of album 1.  Also covered in the previous blog:

4AD bands are awesome (to me).  That label had Cocteau Twins and Pixies, not to mention St. Vincent.  Not anymore, but they've "got" Grimes.  Tesla doesn't.  Oops, I meant ... what's-his-name.  The wealthy Canadian guy. She did, however, give birth to his baby.

Rush were/are Canadian.  Neil Peart R.I.P.  Legendary drummer and lyricist.  Of Rush, of course.  I love "2112", or most of it.  But "Hemispheres" is my favorite, unless it's "Moving Pictures".  Or, better yet, because it has "Freewill"?  "Permanent Waves", as if they weren't particles, and as if ANYTHING is permanent.

And Grimes moved to Columbia Records.  Or to Colombia -nope. Columbia.  The label.  The very big label compared to 4AD, owned or previously owned by Beggars.  I meant Beggars Banquet (sp).  The English record company or label or whatever.  Business + Music = Yuck.

And so quantum physics is mind-blowing, as if Einstein wasn't.

Mind Altar, a common double entendre or multiple entendre, is the only album of music named as such, as far as Neuro knows.  A thematically and musically "heavy" album, it was never meant to be or not to be, and available on CD, still, given its release on the last possible day of 2013.  And that's how it HAD to be. Neuro is aka Neuro NYC. It had nil to do with the number 12, except there are 12 songs on it.  And one called "12 Armies", inspired by the movie about monkeys, which isn't really about monkeys.  It's about a pandemic that wiped out the earth's population, and so … what is my song about?  Maybe Neuro is math rock.

“A unique blend of cosmic rock, Pink Floyd-esque psych-rock freakouts, and Bowie-like theatrics ... with thought-provoking lyrical themes: a genre-defiant sound that is truly all their own. ” -  J. Kreitzer, CMJ 2013
